Why Mana Art Erne SWIMRUN Is Built for First-Timers

For many people, swimrun looks exciting… but also intimidating.

Cold water. Running in a wetsuit. Multiple swim and run stages. Equipment questions. Safety concerns.

At Mana Art Erne SWIMRUN, we understand those doubts — because this event was created specifically to remove them.

This is not a race designed only for elites.

It’s a race designed for people who are curious, capable, and ready to try something new.

What Swimrun Really Is (and Isn’t)

Swimrun is a multi-stage endurance event where athletes alternate between open-water swimming and trail running along a natural route.

What it is:

  • An outdoor adventure

  • A personal challenge

  • A test of adaptability

  • A deeply rewarding experience

What it is not:

  • A non-stop sprint

  • A technical obstacle course

  • An elite-only competition

At Erne SWIMRUN, you move forward at your own pace, with full support and clear guidance from start to finish.

Designed With First-Timers in Mind

Mana Art Erne SWIMRUN has been shaped by years of coaching, open-water safety experience, and athlete feedback.

That means:

✔ Clear, Logical Course Design

No complex navigation. No confusing transitions. The course flows naturally through the stunning Upper Lough Erne landscape.

✔ Safety as a Priority

Mandatory safety briefings, water safety teams, marshals, and experienced race direction ensure you are never left unsupported.

✔ A Supportive Atmosphere

You’ll find encouragement instead of pressure. Many participants will be taking on their first swimrun, just like you.

✔ Choice of Solo or Team Entry

Entering as a team of two is a popular option for first-timers — it’s social, motivating, and confidence-boosting.

“Am I Ready?” — The Most Common Question

You don’t need to be perfect.

You don’t need to be fast.

You don’t need to know everything in advance.

You are likely ready if:

  • You can swim confidently in open water

  • You can jog or walk comfortably on trails

  • You enjoy outdoor challenges

  • You’re willing to push yourself — sensibly

Training happens after you sign up.

Confidence grows along the way.

Equipment: Simple, Clear, and Guided

You don’t need expensive or complicated equipment.

Before race day, you’ll receive:

  • A clear list of mandatory safety items

  • Guidance on optional equipment

  • Advice on what beginners don’t need

Our goal is to help you feel prepared — not overwhelmed.

Transparency and Integrity Matter

To deliver a safe, meaningful event, Mana Art Erne SWIMRUN operates with a minimum participation threshold of 40 athletes.

If this number is not reached by the final decision date:

  • The event will be cancelled professionally

  • All entries will be fully refunded

  • Communication will be clear and timely

This approach protects athletes, volunteers, and the long-term future of the race.

More Than a Finish Line

By entering Mana Art Erne SWIMRUN, you’re also supporting something bigger.

Through our #beMagic programme, in partnership with Mencap Northern Ireland, the event helps create inclusive sporting opportunities for people with learning disabilities and autism.

Your challenge helps others access sport, confidence, and community.

Take the First Step

Most people don’t regret trying.

They regret waiting.

Swimrun doesn’t start on race day.

It starts when you decide to say yes.

If you’ve been thinking about it — this is your sign.
