24th of June- New date on my calendar as it is the event that I want to back to!
That was our TriathlonNI Team race! Slawek, Jonathan and myself were there to take part. Couldn’t wait to see where we are with our training and expectations!
From informations on social media, website through registration process up to race day that was amazing experience!
So, sign up and register it was easy and no problem. After some waiting time it came the race day!
All information provided on FB, website and by email. Simple and effective. We’ve decided to register on the day. All ready, packs waiting, organisers happy, smiling and positive! Transition zone tidy, well marked and in good place.
So, we’ve set up, get ready and went to swim start. Horn went off at 9:00am as planned.
As you could expect swim was cold but except that water was clear and flat- nice. Bike route well marked. Traffic was on and route was partially closed (one lane or part of lane at crossroads) but well marked with signs for athletes and drivers. Marshals well visible and helping everyone stay safe and happy on road. I was impressed with markings of holes, bumps on the road. Then run- three laps. Short and sharp. Lots of spectators on promenade along shore. Great vibes!
Transition zone needs some extra words… People there were to help, point you positions help you get there quick. If it wasn’t busy they took their time to check if your bike is on properly and if you’re all good! Sweet!
Absolutely great day and experience! If you are looking for your first triathlon or great race to take a part of- Carrickfergus Castle Triathlon is for you!
