Frequently Asked Questions – Mana Art Erne SWIMRUN

Is this race suitable for my first swimrun?

Yes. Mana Art Erne SWIMRUN is intentionally designed to be first-timer friendly.

The course, safety setup, and race atmosphere focus on participation, confidence, and enjoyment, not elite competition.

If you can swim confidently in open water and run comfortably on trails, you are ready.

Do I need previous race or swimrun experience?

No previous swimrun or race experience is required.

Many participants enter their first ever swimrun at Erne SWIMRUN. Clear guidance, safety briefings, and a supportive environment are provided throughout.

How fit do I need to be?

You do not need elite fitness.

You should be comfortable:

  • Swimming short open-water distances

  • Jogging or walking on trails

  • Being active for a sustained period

You can walk run sections and take your time — there is no pressure to race.

Can I enter as a team instead of solo?

Yes. You can enter:

  • Solo

  • Team of 2

Many first-timers choose the team option, as it:

  • Reduces nerves

  • Increases confidence

  • Makes the experience more social and enjoyable

What equipment do I need?

You do not need expensive or specialist gear.

Essential items include:

  • Swimrun-appropriate wetsuit

  • Trail or running shoes suitable for wet conditions

  • Tow float (mandatory for safety)

Optional equipment (pull buoy, paddles) can be used but is not required.

You’ll receive a full equipment guide well before race day.

Is it safe?

Yes. Safety is a top priority.

The event includes:

  • Mandatory safety briefings

  • Managed swim sections

  • Water safety teams

  • Experienced race direction

  • Clearly marked course

If conditions are unsafe, the event will be adapted or paused accordingly.

Are there cut-off times?

There are no aggressive cut-off times.

The focus is on completing the course safely and enjoyably. If you need to stop or withdraw, support will be available.

What happens if I struggle on the day?

You are never alone.

Marshals, water safety teams, and volunteers are positioned throughout the course. If you need help, rest, or assistance, it will be provided.

Finishing proud matters more than finishing fast.

What is the minimum entry threshold?

To ensure a safe, high-quality event, Mana Art Erne SWIMRUN has a minimum threshold of 40 participants.

If this number is not reached by the final decision date:

  • The event will be cancelled professionally

  • All entries will be fully refunded

  • Participants will be informed clearly and early

This protects athletes, volunteers, and the integrity of the race.

What happens if the event is cancelled?

In the unlikely event of cancellation:

  • All paid entries will be refunded in full

  • Communication will be clear and timely

  • Priority access may be offered for future editions

Transparency and respect for participants are core values of the event.

Where is the race based?

The race takes place at Share Discovery Village, Lisnaskea, Co. Fermanagh — a stunning location on the shores of Upper Lough Erne with excellent facilities for athletes and spectators.

Can friends or family attend?

Yes. Spectators are welcome and there is a friendly race-village atmosphere with food, facilities, and post-race activities.

How do I know if this race is right for me?

If you’re asking the question, you’re probably closer than you think.

If you:

  • Enjoy open water

  • Like being outdoors

  • Want a new challenge

  • Prefer supportive events over high-pressure racing

Then Mana Art Erne SWIMRUN is likely a great fit.
